I was working the 49th Annual North Atlanta Model Railroad show this past weekend and I got VERY lucky with my purchases this year!

The first thing I found was an MTH Premier Liner Proto Sound 2 Erie Railroad L-1 0-8-8-0 Camel back! This thing is a beast and is typical MTH (very well made and fantastic sound), but made it better was the price!
This steamer is very special to me because it's my very first "real" steam engine. In other words, high end, diecast metal, command control equipped locomotive.

The second and final piece I got at the end of the day was this Pennsylvania Railroad Lounge Observation car from K-Line for $40.

I don't think I've even had such fruitful pickings at a show in the past!

$400? For that 0-8-8-0? Score! I bought one a year ago for $675 and was fairly proud of that price. Ouch.

I'm tempted to put TMCC in mine; I do that upgrade regularly, but not always on the "fancier" PS2 units - I do have a DCS Remote Commander (at $40, how bad could it be? it is generally successful), but I rarely run DCS, really.

Enjoy; a bargain.

When I lived in the South, Atlanta had model train shows and also RR collectible shows, independent of one another. As I live nowhere near the area now, I haven't been to one since the 90s, though.

I hope the good people at Memory Station in Watkinsville were there. We'd go from Florida to my parent's hometown when I was a kid, and before the bypass was built around the area, we'd go right past the place and my folks would always stop by for me for an hour or so. Such nice folks there, it was the first 'real' hobby shop I ever got to see, and I bought some stuff there every time I'd go. Probably haven't seen the place since the early 90s, and I hope they're doing all right today.

Lee:

Lewis Collier from Memory Station was there with a pretty good selection of stuff.

And I'll agree with an earlier poster; this was one of the better shows in Atlanta in recent years, particularly for us three railers.  I picked up a couple of cars, had an engine repaired and enjoyed visiting with many friends and some of their wives.

I may even have company at the next show.  When I got home and told my wife a few of the guy's wives said to tell her hello, she said she'd have gone had she known they would be there.

Stirling,

Man you are going to love that L-1 Erie Camel Back Engine, a way cool piece of RR equipment no doubt about it, and you got it at a steal of a price.  Of course Brian probably thinks the Passenger car is pretty cool also, however the L-1 is the great find, put some Atlas O Steam Era PL&E work train rolling stock behind her, and run her up high on a big trestle on your layout, so everyone can see her!

Congrats on some serious train show finds!

PCRR/Dave
