I have a chance to purchase a couple of Atlas passenger cars I have been looking for. However the cars are 2 rail. I have a few Atlas 3 rail wheel sets and was wondering if I would be able to just swap them out. I know I might have to shim the truck a little from the body. Thanks in Advance

Tell us a little more about the cars. What kind of couplers do you intend to use? Are they lighted?
These are the trainman cars (60 foot) - Will use Kadees - Not concerned about the lighting of the cars. Want to know if I can sub the 3 rail wheel sets for the 2 rail wheel sets currently installed in the passenger trucks.
On the CZ cars that I converted the two rail trucks were replaced with the 3 rail trucks with no modifications. Lighting is another issue. I hope that helps.
Thank You Tom - But not what I'm asking about. I don't have any 3 rail passenger trucks. I have Atlas 3 rail wheel sets (no trucks). The Trainman cars are 2 rail. I want to swap out the 2 rail wheel sets currently installed in the passenger trucks with the 3 rail wheel sets that I have.
I have done this on Atlas freight car trucks. So I imagine its the same with their passenger car trucks. Its highly unlikely Atlas would make two set of diecast trucks, one for 2 rail and one for 3 rail
The wheel swap is easy provided you string a thread through the springs so when they fly off they are easy to find.
Hi Thanks John - Know only too well about the flying springs !!! The vacuum has eaten several of them.
