Yes, there are track scales out there to weigh railroad cars, to find the weight of the load for billing purposes.     Scale test cars are used to check the calibration of the scales.    Test are the typical small scale test cars that were used most from about 1900 thru the 1980's.  There may still be a few of them out there in service....or more likely hanging around an engine house or maintenance yard.    When being moved, they are usuall handled as the last car on the train.

If you have a yard or engine facility with a maintenance area or rip track,  these are a nice addition.

Atlas has brought back these cars, which MTH last produced  22 years ago.   6 road names
