Samples of the Atlas O Multimax are on display at the National Train Show. We didn't have time too get proper photos of them before they got shipped out but here's a picture of them sitting pretty in the booth.

Those are very nice! Thank you for sharing! Cannot wait until they arrive.
Those are indeed some nice models. Looking forward to these arriving. Thanks for the pic.
@AtlasEric Can you give us an update on when the P42s, Amfleets, Horizon cars and other things from last year's winter catalog might start to be put on the water?? Thanks for any updates!

They look good. I'm surprised, though, that it took this long for them to come out with these. If I recall correctly, the TTX auto-rack is based on the 89-foot flat car.
Got 4 of these coming along with 4 articulated auto carriers. Already have 8 Lionel 89' auto racks converted to 2-rail.

Nick,
Best plan is to follow here, it is updated as we get information from the factories. The electronic component supply issues have locomotive delivery a little up in the air, they could move in either direction depending upon if components become available. We have asked the factory to keep the P42 and Amfleet production close to each other.

Matt,
The Multimax is not based on the 89' flat car tooling. While the earlier covered racks were mounted on 89' flat cars, I am not sure our 89' flat could be used for that as 1) I don't think the tooling was designed for it and 2) many of the racks were placed on flats with lower decks.

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking in terms of the early 89-foot open auto carriers produced by TTX.
@Paul Graf Yeap! I check the site most every weekday for shipping updates. Thanks for the great info, I'm assuming that's also true for the Horizon cars? Been waiting on these for years and can't wait to have them in hand!

Horizon cars are currently scheduled to ship from China in October (with the way the container shipments have been lately, it will probably be November before they get on a ship).

Thanks for the updates Paul
IMO Atlas O master line rolling stock is by far the best readily available rolling stock in the o gauge hobby.
I see these Multi Max car carriers are scheduled for 3rd quarter 2022 on the Atlas website. I realize this may need to be updated
Do you have any updates on the production schedule of these models?
We just got the first decorated samples, so there will probably be some delay, but we haven't been updated as to what the factory expects to be a new ship date.
Paul
Any time frame on the f units that were supposed to be here in 2nd quarter?
@tom21pa posted:Any time frame on the f units that were supposed to be here in 2nd quarter?
Locomotive production is fluid because of the electronic component supply issues. Once we are able to get components we will be able to update the schedule. Clearly the F units will not be here in the 2nd quarter as that has already passed.
Paul
There is the 2nd quarter of 2023 or 2024 that’s possible. 😆
Given that locomotive production from Atlas over the last decade has moved at a glacial pace I’d say 3 years wait time for the F7’s would be progress compared to the GP7’s, RSD’s, Dash 8-40CW’s and U23B’s.
If Proto sound 3 electronics are more available, it would be a win win if Atlas converted their Master locomotives to PS3
I operate both TMCC ERR and Proto sound 3 models, and IMO Proto sound 3 is hands down superior
Is there any source available for Atlas container locking pins, Atlas parts dept says they are unavailable. Packs of 4 come with each container.

That requires retooling the chassis for the PS3 components. Highly unlikely.

I wonder how many that prefer TMCC/Legacy wouldn't purchase items if Atlas went all MTH control.
"I wonder how many that prefer TMCC/Legacy wouldn't purchase items if Atlas went all MTH control."
Don't think we'll ever find out. Atlas cannot afford to decrease their market share even further by restricting themselves in this way, and I doubt they would do it anyhow given the uncertainty inherent in MTH's future long term. Right now they get to play both sides from the middle .
Nice looking cars again. I appreciate what Atlas does for O scale in their detailing of the cars.

It would be great if Atlas O offered their models in Legacy, unfortunately Lionel never licensed out Legacy, so atlas is stuck with older less sophisticated TAS EOB or ERR TMCC.
In my experience Legacy and Protosound 3 models run better, and are easier to interface with than TMCC

Well they will be offered in Protosound 3 as Atlas O acquired the Licensing of DCS Protosound 3 with the Purchase of PRemier Doiesel molds and tooling!

True,
they will use Proto Sound 3 with the acquired MTH Premier tooling
But the exquisitely detailed Master Line locomotives still have the outdated TMCC.
We would get best of both worlds if Atlas combined the superior Master line tooling with the more advanced Proto sound 3 control package
"But the exquisitely detailed Master Line locomotives still have the outdated TMCC."
Not everyone considers TMCC outdated. It's pretty much bullet proof and easy to trouble shoot any problems that do arise.

Where have you seen that are going to do so?
PLEASE - let's not start the old DCS ("more advanced Proto.... control package") vs TMCC ("...the outdated...") wars again. These were fought here over a decade ago. Enough is enough!

I find TMCC and Legacy both easy to use. Probably not interested in DCS versions of Atlas locomotives that currently use TMCC. I'd just purchase a former MTH engine from Atlas if I want DCS.
