Does anyone know how to operate the coil couplers on an Atlas non powered SW8?
The unit has a center rail pickup and coil couplers. No manual was in the box, I looked and could not find any program/run switch. No light when on powered track - maybe nothing is supposed to work and it was just cheaper to use existing stock trucks. Specifics are 3 rail non powered 2005 production Coors, road# C988, catalog #6969. Powered TMCC unit had a manual and runs and works just fine.

The non powered Atlas O diesels do NOT have any electronics with exception to lights. If you open up and take off the shell you will find the connector ends of each coil coupler are taped to the frame and are not connected to anything. You need to purchase separetly from ERR the mini Commander to activate the coil couplers with Tmcc/ legacy command control.
That answers everything, I suspected as much. Really not a problem, but was curious with the sight of the coil couplers.
Order one of the Command Control boards from 3rd Rail. Connect loose the wires to the right places listed on the circuit board and that will allow the couplers to operate remotely.
