Does any one know if Atlas O Trainman series boxcars are true to scale? Are they akin to MTh Premier boxcars? I run mostly MTH Rail King boxcars and am concerned with the Trainman boxcar matching.
Thanks in advance!

Atlas O Trainman cars are built to 1/4" scale, although less detailed than their Master line. The Atlas Industrial Rail products are more or less "traditional" in size.

Rob,
I like Atlas rolling stock and have lots of it, here is what I have found, the Atlas Trainman is an Atlas Line of different sized rolling stock, that is less detailed than their Steam Era Premier Line, there is different sized rolling stock in each of these lines, if you want only O Scale, Atlas Trainman has them, the O Scale designation will be right on the outside of the Trainman box in most cases, if it does not appear, then usually the rolling stock is not a full scale entity.

The Atlas Trainman PRR Plug Door Freezer Car on the left in the pictures, is a Trainman O Scale Car. The Menard's WWII Commemorative Box Car on the right is not true O Scale, the size difference is evident. The Trainman O Scale is marked as such on the Atlas Trainman rolling stock Boxes.
Hope this helped you a might.
Scale enough for me although lacking in some detail.
Atlas 'O' Trainman has some items to scale and close, as possible, to full detail, as the prototype, only some detailing parts are molded on, instead of being attached.
BUT! The latest Trainman box cars have noticeable inaccuracies, as compared to the past Atlas 'O' Trainman box car items, such as, name of car builders, size and types of doors and erroneously having poling pockets, when the prototype actually didn't have them.

When it comes to the Trainman line, keep in mind the following:
1) They are indeed supposed to be true O scale cars, other than the obvious wheels, couplers....and perhaps trucks if you want to be a stickler.
2) The are priced much more reasonably than "high end" cars, per se.
3) I have yet to damage anything on a Trainman car pulling it out of it's box, servicing it, or simply running them.
I, personally, think this line hits a real sweet spot in the hobby.
Berkshire President,
I agree with you of the Trainman size, durability, price and having a place in the model RR. hobby.
Now, that I'm older and my eyes aren't eagle like anymore, handling these cars makes me feel safe of not damaging little attached parts, which also hide on the floor!

Berkshire President,
Got to agree the Atlas O Trainman rolling stock has a definite place on my layout, every once in a while I get lucky and pick up a real nice O Scale piece used, for more than reasonable money. The Scale Atlas O Trainman PRR Plug Door Freezer Car in the above post, was one of those acquisitions. They are not the detailed rolling stock, the Atlas Premier Steam Era Cars are, however they never ever get damaged either. Actually for some parent looking to set up a layout for their children to play with, these Trainman O Scale Box Cars are just what needed to be engineered. Rugged is the word for them.
