I know that there was a problem with Weaver Troop cars warping.  Was the Atlas release of these cars problem free?

I am interested in them but it is unclear to me whether the Atlas release was “clean”.  Thanks so much for your help.

Since the zinc rot in the Weaver floors took several years to show up, I'd say it's too soon to tell if the Atlas replacements are okay or not.  I hope the Atlas ones are fine since I ordered 5 of the replacement floors.

The problem did not appear in all of the Weaver cars.  The first run cars that I and some local friends own have had no problems.  Later runs, including express car conversions have some percentage of warped floors.

Ben,

the sad thing about the Weaver Troop sleeper cars is the zinc rot only occurs in some production runs. I have two  express cars  I purchased that were in the first release. Those two cars have been Soldiering on for years.

Another problem with Weaver Troop sleepers is the trucks. The side frames are easily broken from the bolsters. Atlas  redesigned the trucks and this problem also appears to have been corrected by Atlas.

While we’re on the subject, I need a light strip for a Troop sleeper. This part has not been available from Atlas. I purchased an undecorated Weaver Troop sleeper years ago that was missing its light strip.

If anyone has a junker Weaver Troop Sleeper with a light strip in it please let me know.

 Thanks

Richard
