Atlas is pleased to announce the production of the Premier O Russell Snow Plow in Long Island livery for Atlas Authorized Retailer Trainworld of Brooklyn, New York. The plow will be produced in two authentic Long Island car numbers and features articulating plow wings, front and rear couplers and LED lighting.About The Atlas Premier O Russell Snow Plow
The Russell Car and Snow Plow Co. of Ridgeway, Pennsylvania, originally established in 1893 was a leading supplier of wedge type plows up until the mid-20th century. Their most common railroad plow was a standard pusher plow car that sat ahead of a locomotive. It featured a superstructure, located behing the plow that included living quarters for the operator and a compartment for the operating pistons that powered the plow wings and the "flanger." It was the flanger's "feet" that cleared snow away from below the rail height to make clearance for the wheels.
