I purchased two 40 " lengths and a terminal section for a test track only since I run my trains at a club. The track sections appear to have snaps to connect, however when pushed together all three rails do not line up, fit tight, and the snaps are not even close to closure. What am I missing?

If its flex track the rails slide on the ties..... if not the rails might have been cut....
Had the same issue and it was not flex. Just put a flat board on one end and push or pull on it. They will slide.
Do you have the rail joiners installed
