Hello---OK it's your show. But how about keeping it in mind?  I can't help but think that the model vehicles are an integral part of  'O' scale/gauge model railroading.  They are  advertised in OGR and are even marketed by MTH Lionel, K-Line etc.

In fact---such a site MIGHT be the only  sole  niche for  1/43 1/48 1/50  scale model vehicles aficionados. If you have an interest in these vehicles  the only source of  info is lumped in with "All car models".   Yet I would wager that model railroaders are the major purchasers of these vehicles.

Understand now?  Sighhhhhh. Well I tried.           Thanks for the 'listen'

I used to be a fan of a separate forum for diecast vehicles but after seeing MTH not participating much anymore in 4 of their manufacturer forums, I would like posts about diecast vehicles to be in a popular forum, which many forum members visit & add value with their contributions, like the Hi-Rail forum.

Salty, if you like separate forums that discuss diecast vehicles, DHS Diecast has such forums exclusively for these models. But I visit those forums only 3 – 4 times a year, usually around the Nurnberg Toy Fair, BAUMA, CONExpo or MINExpo. I work for Caterpillar & I buy 1:50 scale diecast models of Caterpillar machines & other road vehicles to be used on my O-Scale train diorama & I learn more visiting the OGR forums than the DHS Diecast forums.

These are just my opinion.

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan

Hi-

Well I have NO interest in diecast vehicles-----other than those that are compatible with 'O' scale railroading.

THAT is the crux of my (imagined) dilemma. Plus I have no interest in 1/43 vehicles in general----except for pre 1960 American makes.  Very narrow scope.

Hence my quest for this niche of steam/transition era 1/43, 1/48, 1/50  scale AMERICAN VEHICLES.  I guess what I am TRYING to do is blow off all the chaff and find the few grains that apply here.

Vehicles suitable for 'O' scale railroading are but a small portion of the massive availability----I had hoped to refine it down.  But never mind.  Life goes on.

The hinges on the covers of the boxes on my trailer were at the bottom & they also kept opening at the slightest disturbance. But after I posed them at the final location on my diorama & shut the lids they stayed shut for me.

But I liked that the blue landing gears on the Sword trailers had screws that could be rotated to raise the legs in transport position or lowered as when the trailer is parked away from the tractor – a nice realistic touch.

These are just my opinion.

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan

NaveenRajan,  do you know of anywhere I can buy those straps you had on  your first set of pictures?  The rubberbands that have the "ratchets" on the ends?  I'd love to get some of those to use on my flatbed railcars.

DHS  may have the next best thing if you are unable to locate straps with ratchets.  They are included with the Semi Tractor Trailer, I just have not yet unpacked along with the hood mirrors.

Here are some images of the 1:50 scale models of the 2016 Ford F-250 Super-Duty trucks, imported by Sword Models that is also being promoted by Atlas-O in their December 2016, New Product Announcements & also in their latest January-June 2017 catalog.

I ordered mine from EVOT-USA, a diecast retailer from Clinton Township, MI.

Unlike other offerings in the Atlas-O, January-June 2017 catalog, these models are available right now from diecast construction model retailers for much less than the inflated MSRP, listed in the Atlas catalog but some colors, like Red are extremely popular & already sold out at the importer, Sword Models.

Some features, I like about the models are working steering, both front doors, hood & tailgate open & stay open if I need to pose them with the doors open. Note that the SuperCab truck comes with the 8’ long bed & the Crew Cab truck comes with the 6 ¾’ bed. The 2-pack Escort set that I ordered, doesn’t have any Chrome – bumpers, wheel rims, mirror caps, but they do come with some extra parts like rear hitch, headache rack & tool-box in the bed, along with signs / clearance pole to be used while escorting oversize loads.

These are just my opinion.

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan
