Atlas was handing out their new catalogs at the "Big E" train show in West Springfield, MA yesterday, and it's also now available on their website.  Click here to link to the Ultimate Guide to Atlas Model Railroad Products-January-June 2016.

Here's my copy from the show...all 275 pages worth!!  Feel free to share your thoughts and comments...

No listing of the MP15DC switchers in the arrivals section, though the shipping schedule of the website still shows first quarter 2016. Anyone able to check with Atlas at the show on that?

Might order some Cargill or ADM tank cars, PS-1 box cars or steel cars - though fewer than in the past.

Thanks for the heads-up on the on-line version being available.

Interesting that Atlas-O has the F-7's listed as a 1Q2016 arrival.  I was expecting them more around June-ish.  We're already leaving January behind with Monday being Feb 1st.  So unless those F-7's are  on the water already, I don't think we'll have them in our hands this quarter.  Their online shipping schedule even says 2Q2016 now.  There was a container that shipped mid-January, but the F-7's didn't make that boat ride.

What is Atlas-O saying at the Big E show?

On another note, Atlas-O is really pumping out rolling stock again!  Surprised to see yet another run of coil cars in the catalog as a June 2016 "announcement" though.  Didn't they just deliver a run of these a couple of months ago?  Whatever...  I'm in for a few more Beth Steel coil cars whenever they produce them, so it's more an observation than a "complaint" (before anyone starts going down that road ).

Would have liked to see another announcement of Well Car containers... I'm waiting on the CSX "how tomorrow moves" containers that didn't make the first production run.  Maybe next time?  For delivery in 2017.  That'll be here before we know it.

Website still shows previous catalog, any indications from Atlas reps that the  long awaited TMan GE -8-40CW is finally going to be delivered this spring?

Hibar, the new catalog is there.  Just click on the words "Click here" in my original post above and it will link you directly with the new catalog on the Atlas website.  Or, if you would rather go to the Atlas website first, just click on the "catalogs" tab on the left side of the home page.

I'll be ordering the 50' PS-1 in Chessie System livery, both numbers. I was hoping for some TM 70 ton hoppers in Chessie System B&O markings.

What he said...

Since there are no Trainman Chessie hoppers I'll "settle" for the Chesapeake & Ohio wood chip hoppers. Not a bad consolation prize.

I like Atlas products.  They have a sturdy and reliable feel to me.  As far as this catalog, I think it's the same for everyone with each new catalog.  We get excited when we see "our" road names on locomotives or rolling stock.  This catalog has several things I want.  We'll see how the wallet reacts.  Happy shopping.

It does seem like there is a really limited number of dealers to pre-order 2-rail from these days.  High country hobbies, Norms O scale, and Public Delivery track are also pretty active in the Atlas 2-rail realm these days.

I have one 8-40cw on order with Muffins, I will probably search out one more if I am pleased with it on its arrival.  I can't believe the $429 MSRP on a trainman loco!   What would it have been in a Masterline offering?!!

I hope the Maxi-IV's are at prototypical ride height, unlike all of Atlas other rolling stock that rides way too high out of the box in 2-rail (3-rail is even worse!)

499.95 like the F7s and GP7s, I believe ride height of the Atlas cars is as good as it is going to get with the current bolster on truck setup.JMO

Nice items like P C and SOO!

Unfortunately, Atlas has priced themselves out of the O market. I made many roads myself as I was tired of waiting. Ten years too late to the market.

Atlas has been out paced by the modernization of Lionel and MTH’s PS series non-breakable cars. Non heavy, operating doors, metal detailed cars.

If you work on, dissemble and see the condition of my customers Atlas operating cars, you would agree. Best to remain on the shelf, they just don’t stand up to daily usage.

The track record on yearly ebay completed (non-sales) is quite high. Not much Atlas sells exceeding the 40 dollar range.

Hope they can revamp the old worn out line up and make strong, new style cars using 3d printers, thus lowering the prices for everyone.

Priced themselves out of the market?  Their F7's are cheaper than the Sunset F7s.  Their upcoming dash-8 is cheaper than the MTH dash 8-40cw (and it has the correct number of steps on the pilot) .    Their CZ cars are gorgeous and cheaper than anyone else's scale CZ cars.

And of course the upcoming Maxi-IV and containers are a steal since NOBODY ELSE MAKES THEM!  Where are you going to get anything like that for cheaper?

I have several pieces of Atlas rolling stock and two locomotives.  Some of the rolling stock is 15 years old.  I've never had an ounce of trouble like I have with some of Lionel's cars.

Sunset, your comparing apples and oranges there. How did we get from freight cars to engines?Wouldn’t own any engines other than MTH.

My comments were strictly on freight cars against others in the market place.

Last I checked,  Maxi-IV well cars were freight cars.  CZ passenger cars are not engines either.

But if you find an MTH or Lionel 25,500gal modern tank car, please post a review for the rest of us. (I wont hold my breath)

Question on the freight, some say 2 or 4 road numbers for each, but there is only one catalog number.  How does one make sure to get different road numbers when ordering?

Each road number has it's unique product number. Example;

3001234-1

3001234-2

3001234-3

3001234-4

Okay, that makes sense, but I wish they'd explain that in the catalog.  I'm looking at the PFE steel reefers.  It says there are 4 road numbers, but only list the catalog number as 3003905, so I'd have no idea how to get all 4 numbers that way without the information you shared.  Thanks.
