Picked up a Atlantic legacy steamer very cheap.

The Encoder ring is off of flywheel

Is this a pressure fit or glued. If glued what is the best product to use

The motor shaft seems loose although it does turn the shaft.

It appears there is a place for a set screw in the flywheel in 2 place. The set crews may be missing. Although they may be very small. Anyone know the size of these? How easy does the flywheel come off the shaft?

Thanks

Before you do anything, clean the glue residue from the flywheel so the ring will seat properly.  Just set the ring on the flywheel, it is not a pressure fit.  After it is seated, very carefully flow a small amount of super glue on the crack between the flywheel and ring.  I use ZAP CA in the green bottle.  Do not try to put glue on the inside of the ring or outside of the flywheel because when those two metals touch, , the super glue will set very fast and chances are about 99 percent you will not get it seated properly.

One last tip.  When you order the ring, order a few as they are dirt cheap and fit many applications.

Thanks the original was not glued at all. It looks like they swedged the brass on the inside of the encoder ring to hold the part onto the flywheel. Thanks for the help.

Nice work, what were the symptoms you found that showed repair to be necessary?

The engine when put in speed control would start then slow, then speed up. The encorder ring was loose. But, the ultimate issue was the counter balance on the shaft. The counter balance is locked in via 2 allen screws. When, I would turn it. There was a small amount of play. Then in would engage again.
