My wife is into modeling and collecting Plasticville and has made a long diorama (150 inches of wall) that is 10 inches deep and 23 in the deeper section. We are looking for a background/backdrop that we can buy that is 24-30 inches high that would be appropriate behind the structures she has used. See pics attached. We looked at several sites and seems tracksidescenery was the best but wanted to hear people's experience with them and other suggestions.

At the top of the page see forum sponsor, RailRoad Backdrops.
Well, you can never go wrong with blue sky and distant mountains. But consider something other than a photo-realistic backdrop for a moment. Lionel catalogs from the 1950s were hand-illustrated. What about a backdrop like that! Illustrations of a farm on a distant hillside, a city skyline, and dare I say, a RR station hosting a passenger train, with a little steam coming out of the stack! If you know an artist, they might have fun creating a triptych like this.
Take a look at BackdropWarehouse. We got about 80 feet of backdrop from them and were quite pleased.
Good selection, etc.
That's a nice looking diorama, your wife has done a great job! I think women tend to be naturals at doing scenery.
I've seen modular layouts where the ladies did a lot of the scenery work with very fine details added, very realistic!
As for a backdrop, I think the suggestions above are very good sources for what you are looking for. At some point I'll be looking for a backdrop, also. I look forward to seeing what you and your wife decide on using.
P.S. A woman who collects Plasticville and builds Diorama's ... I think she's a keeper!

Find a panoramic image and have it printed with a large-format printer. Most cities have print shops that can do it, and there are also websites. You can find many, many pano images on the net. Try a google image search for "panoramic". The Wikipedia media commons also has a large collection.
Here is mine, printed from an image found in Wikimedia:

I got mine from Trackside Scenery. Was very pleased with the result.
