I have multiple sets of the Vision sound reefers (6-83545/83549). I love them but the sounds keep cutting out all over my track including switches. Is there a way to add a battery in it like you can in engines?

Have you tried cleaning the track as well as the pickup rollers on the reefers?
I have a fasttrack layout and have never had an issue with sound dropouts on these reefers.
Even though the track may appear clean, it may not be.
When I have an issue with a Loco dropping sound I go over the track with Lionels track cleaning eraser.
Then I wipe it with a paper towel dampened with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Problem solved.
A drop of Bachman EZ lube or Atlas conduct-a-lube conductive oil on the rollers pins also helps.

Yes I have and no change. I have fastrack too.

I would recommend contacting Gunrunner John for some assistance for this issue.

Will do. @gunrunnerjohn is this possible? If so, can I use your YLB with these cars?
Since they use the RS-Lite board, I can't imagine why you can't install the YLB (RS-Lite Version) into them. The bonus over a standard battery cable and battery is you never have to open them again.
10510 - Your Last Battery, Railsounds Lite Batt. Replacement
This is the model for direct connection to the RS-Lite board battery connector. It's the same product, just a different battery connection.

Cool! I need one for my H10 so I'll order a few of these.
AFAIK, any unit that uses the RS-Lite Legacy board should be compatible with the YLB, all the ones I've encountered have the battery circuit. They no longer include the battery cable or battery mounting clip in most new Lionel stuff, but the capability is still there.
Lionel doesn't have a picture of the RS board...part # is 691 RSM1 A00 on one of them I have but can't see the card well inside the car without disassembling it. In parts for one of the PS1 sound cars, I see it's 691RSM1012.
I was looking for a picture to see where one could plug in a battery.
Chuck, here's the plug breakdown from Bruk's great Legacy document. As you can see, the upper right hand connector is the battery connection.

OK, thanks. That's labeled nicely!
That's why I really like what Bruk did with those documents, they've been REALLY handy in the total absence of any modern Legacy information from Lionel.
