With all the ongoing discussions of the pros and cons of battery power, we should not lose sight of the reality that battery powered model trains are the only true emulation of real trains which carry their power source on board.

For the steam era, doesn't live steam also fit that description? I think a command control O scale live steam engine would be neat.
I'd love to have battery powered trains. I'm sort of a fat-American about it though. That is, once someone will sell me cool models in the road names I want, relatively inexpensively, then I'll buy them battery powered. For now, powered track dominates. I wish it wasn't so.
