Be Aware When Purchasing A 685, 2055 etc Motor

Greetings!

Here a new one on me. Recently purchased two 2055 motors, both had the same issue - bad field windings. The units would run, but draw too much current and overheat. In the attachment, I’ve circled a damaged winding. I strongly suspect that a screwdriver blade slipped off the brush plate screw and damaged the winding.

Endeavoring to preserve, I drilled out the chassis, rewound the Field, drilled & tapped the frame and reassembled it - decidedly NOT recommended!!! 😆😆😆
