It's a good thing you don't have a Big Boy on the layout......
Very cool. Does it run?
Bob
Doesn't run yet... Only driven by one family, last on the road in 1969 then stored in a building.
That should be a fun project. Good luck.
Cute, but what is it?
It's a 1959 Renault quatre chevaux (4cv). I thought everybody knew . These were built between 1947 and 1961 with few changes. If parked next to an old VW bug, the bug looks really big! I had several Dauphines and a 4cv that I rebuilt back in the 70s. Kaiser in Argentina did build the Dauphine, but not the 4cv. Everything is available for the car, but much has to come from France. I bought a complete brake rebuild kit with cylinders and hoses from Argentina for a reasonable price - same parts as fit the Dauphine.
Ah! Not familiar with the 4CV. The 2CV and the Traction-Avant, yes.

I knew what that was....l wanted one in college as a cheap car to drive....sure haven't seen one for a while...but l came into an inheritance and bought just the opposite, a late 1960 Impala with 1961 350 HP 348cu. in. engine and four speed, and three Rochester two-barrels. 75 in first, 95 in second, 115 in third, and needle would spin in fourth. They used to build cars in America. Drove it to Arizona and California in the winter of 1963-64, to recover from walking across snow-covered campus.
