I have been working on my current layout since March 2010. I seem to work in spurts. I may work on it for 3-4 days in a row and then do nothing on it for months on end. I recently completed wiring the two main lines and put the first coat of paint on the facade. I really haven't touched it for the past two weeks.
Today, although not working on the layout, I probably had my best day with it. My grandson and I ran trains for over an hour. Using the Z-4000 remote we ran his Thomas which pulled an assortment of rolling stock, his Coca-Cola General set which I recently gave him, and my MTH PS1 Amtrak F59PH. We used TMCC to run my Lionel Trackmobile and DCS to run my MTH Rio Grande SD-70ACe.
While running the SD-70ACe I noticed that one of the ditch lights were not working. If I pressed down on the cab the light worked correctly. I took it apart and stretched out the springs. The ditch lights now work correctly.
My grandson and I really had a great day running trains on my not so complete layout.
