Hey all, I have a floor layout that I setup a few times a year. Are there any alternative switches out there besides Lionel 0-27 switches? Lionel 0-27 switches do not work well, in my experience, with Lionel heavyweights. I would like switches that are greater than 0-54 radius and easy to set up. Thanks.

I heard ross switches work well.
Not intended for floor/carpet layouts but the best switches come from Ross Custom Switches. I use ONLY Ross on my tubular layout. Ross switches and 0-27 (brown tie) Tubular track are a near perfect match in height.
I love Ross Switches, but they do not work well on carpet. I wish I could use them.
You might want to switch to lionel fastrack. There switches are good for carpet.
I realize that you want O 54 or greater radius. You might want to consider finding some K line switches. I know that they come in O 42 and are compatible with O27 rail profile. You can find them ( if you keep your eyes peeled ) with a low profile switch machine which coaches will negotiate at no problem. I know because I have some K line O42 switches with low profile machines ( as opposed to the big clunky looking things that limit car length through switches ) and they work great! K line also made the clunky looking switch machines but do keep your eyes peeled on the Bay and at shows for ones with the low profile switch machine.... you can still find these great switches made by K line.
