Thanks for posting.
That is one of the more interesting steam videos I have seen.

For what it's worth, the UP Enginemen did NOT refer to them as "Big Boy"! The operating and shop personnel referred to their steam locomotives by the CLASS NUMBER, i.e. the 4-8-8-4s were the "4000s", the 4-6-6-4s were the "3900s", the 4-8-4s were the "800s", etc., etc., etc..
Hi Hot Water,
While we're talking about different classes of steam locomotives...did the UP have any 4-6-2 Pacifics? Matt
The UP rostered several types of Pacific Class locomotives all numbered in the 3100 & 3200 series. Most were Baldwins, followed by ALcos and some Limas. They were built between 1904 and 1919. Likely most of the later ones were USRA types.
Great video, just learned a lot about the U.P.! Thanks for sharing!

Great Video. Kind of sad. But looking forward to the rebirth of the Big Boy, see link below.

Nope, no USRA Pacific's. USRA Light Mikado's, yes.

Nice video. I love the Big Boy although I seldom run mine - just too big.
Thanks.
