Eddie,

I'm counting the days.  4 buildings of trains.  I'm going on Saturday if the weather is ok?  Starting to put together my list of wants.  Maybe even some Kato modern Amtrak in N scale.

Here is a link if anyone needs more info on the Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show

I do not see either Weaver or Sunset,GGD 3rdRail on this years list of attendees. I just recieved notice for The Worlds Greatest Hobby Show to be held the week before Springfield in the Greater Philly area,as I recall the last show at that venue[Phoenixville] in 2009 had massive traffic jams back out to the Pa TPK lots of folks never got close to the venue.

I don't see Weaver on the list either which is shocking as they always do the show.  3rdrail has never done this show and it's been years since Lionel last attended which is stupid since it's the biggest show in New England.

I noticed Justrains is back having been absent for years.

It is definitely a spectacle event. I went every year when I was in HO scale. I continued to attend when I changed to 2 rail O scale...but unfortunately for me there is not enough of 2R represented to warrant the expense of a long drive, admission for my wife and myself, and the unreal crowds which makes browsing more like a hockey game than I can tolerate. Anyone attending for the first time will be blown away nevertheless...massive event.

Could not agree more, really great show with something for everybody although there is a very limited amount of 2rail O scale for sale. Was there 2 years ago but from SoJersey too long and expensive trip to do today. There is a great O scale portable display layout among many other scale layouts and most MFGs.

Gary,

I have done this show for Sunset/3rd Rail but it has been a number of years ago - probably 2003 was the last time. The management always told me they would let me know a day before the show if I could get table space so I decided I was not going to deal with that situation any longer.

Did someone mention cold...COLD isn't the word for it....unless you arrive well ahead of the start time you will be parked a loooong way out from the warmth of any building. Their parking lot is a gigantic wide open windswept tundra of a place, and if it happens to be somewhat "chilly" trust me, you will remember the experience.

I live a 1 1/2 hour drive from it, but no longer consider it essential to my hobby enjoyment...it is more of a train nut spectacle with every possible scale represented in quantity, but certain scales like HO and N being the major share of the show. Yes there is some O stuff, but precious little in 2 Rail...so I'll stay home and save the $ 50 dollars worth of diesel and entrance fees.

This opinion from a long time patron. If you've never been...then absolutely GO!
