Look what came into my local hobby shop today;
What is inside my new black box you ask?
Now I got to go hide the black box before someone sees it.

Very nice Scott.
Take a word from the wise, put the black box back in the shipping carton.
Mike R
I didn't get a shipping carton since I picked it up locally.

That's a great looking scheme. I saw the 1:1 Penn Central today at the TRRA's Madison, IL yard. Pretty blah.

Wow that unit looks sweet! At first I thought black box was some kind of hot box on the N.S
Ahah! this must mean my Reading unit is getting ever closer.........
I thought also thought black box had something to do with an event recorder from one of the full size heritage units!
Quick!!!
Hide it here!!!!!
Wait, I thought you said it was at the local store?????
That paint scheme is a must have for me as I grew up in eastern North Carolina where the Original NS used to roam.
At the July 2 event last year at Spencer where the NS engineer in charge of coordinating the paint schemes and colors for the 20 heritage units said that there were no records of this paint scheme nor were there any paint chips for matching the colors. Fortunately, they found a gentleman in the original Norfolk and Southern historical society that owned a door from a 60's era diesel that helped them get the colors right as well as the location of the stripes.
Never know when the items we collect might be useful again.
Scott, thanks for posting the picture of the box and the engine and I look forward to seeing the video.
Happy railroading,
Don
The video is now on-line enjoy.

Scott:
Thank you for posting your photos and video.
Would you be kind enough to answer two questions for me as I'm curious about the degree to which MTH has captured detailing of these most recent units built for NS.
1.) Does the model's nose have a notch for a low mounted headlight?
2.) Is the rear headlight mounted vertically or horizontally?
Thanks in advance,
Bob
Bob,
I wasn't going to put up any more pictures until Weekend Photo Fun tomorrow morning--Hopefully these pictures will answer your questions
