Quick question.

Using FT, if I cut a gap in the center rail (or use the already gapped 1 3/8 track and disconnecting the wire underneath), will an engine continue seamlessly and uninterrupted from one block over the gap to the next block and continue on under power of the same transformer.

Does the center rail gap creating the block impact the reversing unit on the engine i.e will the engine (Lionel & MTH PS 2) stop or reverse itself after sensing the gap.

Thank you.

No, because the gap is very small. Most modern e-units have capacitors to keep the engine running when it encounters a dead spot (MTH produced a video years ago demonstrating this), so unless the gap is several inches long you should have no problems.
