We have ten amp fuses on the output side of our TIU mounted on a panel. If you put a 18-28V light bulb or LED like a Evans product LED across the terminals on the fuse holder they light when the fuse blows, makes for easy visual detection . My question is does this hook up change the effectiveness of the fuse system?

It bypasses the fuse so it will keep the circuit energized but only at the current rating of the bulb. So I don't think it would be a problem for a train layout. G
An LED with a large resistor would not pose a significant issue. One minor point is you'd have voltage out there if the circuit was open, could confuse you if you were taking readings with a meter.
