If you like watching golf on TV it could be one of the more interesting US Opens.  The Chambers Bay Golf Course near Seattle and the BNSF are neighbors. The BNSF tracks are fairly close to the 15, 16, and 17 fairways and greens. The BNSF has stated that they will blast their horns if folks are close to the tracks, could be some frustrated golfers as they prepare to putt and the good ole BNSF let them know that they are playing through. The 16th hole will be really cool because it looks like the loco is coming right at you before it turns away.

I had not heard of this course till the U.S. Open.  I watched a segment on the Golf Channel about the building of Chambers Bay the other day and that segment included a BNSF manifest freight passing the course.

Chambers Bay seems to share many characteristics with St. Andrews in terms of the relative bleakness of the course.  I'm guessing this course will create a number of frustrated pro golfers between now and Sunday.  If I were handicapping; I'd bet on the Europeans this week.

Watching the Open now.  Awesome shots of both golf and trains!   During one of the promos about Chambers Bay, they said somewhere around 60 trains pass along those tracks each day!

Just had a massive Union Pacific Intermodal coast by, as Tiger made his par putt on 17.

Awful day for TW, it's amazing how far he has fallen.
