I bought a Pennsylvania Bobber Caboose (30-7763). The box is correct and I expected road number 201 but inside was the road number 476042.

I have every bobber made since they were first released and therefore every Pennsylvania road number. None of the other releases have this road number.

My question is: Was this a special run for some hobby shop or did it come in an R-T-R set? I can't find any listing that compares with this road number and am curious as to its origin.   Thanks,   Joe

Joe,

Sorry, I may have got a bit of dyslexia going in with my earlier response and transposed the last two numbers!

Now that I see the photo of the car, I'm fairly certain that is a repaint by somebody else.  That car number doesn't exist in our system and the image appears to show that the graphics are from a decal rather than the pad print process we apply to our cars (note the shiny, slightly darker area between and around the letters and numbers).

In addition, you can compare the deco design to that of the item referenced in my initial reply and see there are clear differences in the build date on the lower right hand side of the car.  In general, our build dates are going to be an actual built date, not the more simplified "BLT. BY P.R.R." present on this car.  We also typically include the region (ie: "Eastern Division") below the car number.

Speaking of bobber Cabin cars... how about this Scratchbuilt Gem I got off  "Da Bay"!

And IT's matching Boxcar!

Sorry but I don't have the heart of destroying these two scratchbuilt Items with 3rail wheels and Lobster- Claw Couplers. IT's staying "as-is" in my Showcase! these items are REALLY a work of art and you just have to accept them as they are!
