Now that coal may be making a comeback, will this influence more folks to buy hoppers for newly opened layout mines?

Coal won't be making a comeback, no matter what a certain person may have promised. Too many coal-fired power plants have been retired or are slated for retirement, and there's no incentive to build new ones with natural gas prices so low into the foreseeable future. FreightCar America says coal cars represents less than 1% of their total backlog, and they are making a steady transition away from reliance on coal car production. That said, I am adding some to my fantasy railroad empire where shale gas has yet to be tapped.
What, me worry?
Concensus is coal isn't going to increase much due to any possible upcoming changes to policy.
I heat with coal and incorporate coal items into my layout. Doesn't matter what current affairs are. If that were the case, steam engines on the layouts would be obsolete.
In my little world coal and lumber will be on great demand
Only the LionScale 6-car sets of open-top hoppers will be selling out quickly.
The Trinity RD-5 aluminum body, open-top, five-bay hoppers for coal have been around for over 25 years and still there has not been an O scale or S scale model, only HO scale and N scale models.
