Altoona Brewing 1

I already had an Altoona Brewing Co. plant on my ca 1950 layout, that I created out of an MTH Granary ready-to-use structure.

In my Menard's Mystery Box there was an American Light and Power plant.  I have an AL&P at one end of the layout already- and I really like it.  But I don't need TWO power plants.

Reworking history a bit (Altoona Brewing closed in 1974), (in my imagination) the company developed "Horseshoe Lite" in 1948- 21 years before Miller launched Miller Lite;   they marketed it on radio "The Jack Benny Show" .  As it happened (again in my imagination) they doubled their business, and built an all-new modern plant to add to the old plant, in 1950.

Here is what I used on the Altoona Brewing Scene:

- MTH Granary.  The signs are printed on paper, sanded, and applied w/ diluted Elmer's glue.

- Menards AP&L

- HO scale laser-cut wooden grain elevator kit from Ultimate Trains

- Horseshoe Curve beer can (bought on e-Bay), put on a Plasticville water tower frame with a Plasticville water tower top.  Viola!  An Altoona Brewing Water Tower.

- RTR Trains Altoona Brewing closed top hoppers  (MTH Altoona Brewing Co. Reefers on pre-order)

-  silver-painted wooden barrels, diecast vehicles, and Chinese figures.

At this point it is just set up- I will permanently add it and scenic the area later.
