I had the day off and decided to make a couple bridge piers for my entry gate.

That's pretty cool!
Don
Man I don't know Dave that looks like that was A bad poor on some of that concrete. I don't know if that would be safe. You might have to call in an inspector on that one. It looks fantastic Dave as all of your projects do great job big gold star on your forehead. Choo Choo Kenny
Now that's some modeling craftsmanship!
Is there a thread showing your gate; how you built it? If so, I'd appreciate the link.
Thanks for the photos.
Excellent and glad to see you remembered to cut the beam in the towers to allow most scale equipment thru the bridge.
Very Nice Dave.
What materials did you use?
Chinese concrete?
Dave,
That sure was a productive day off! The piers look fantastic!
It appears to me that you just made what you see every day in Pennsylvania. Rotting bridge concrete work!
I agree with the others, the bridge is great too!
Hi Dave • Well done on the piers.
Nicely done, Dave.
C.Sam:
Dave's back in New Jersey. You know Tony Soprano's crew handles all the concrete back there.
Dave, that looks great, very realistic

Another great job! Cool effect with the cracks in the concrete.
Looks awesome as always Dave
That's a very nice bit of work there. Ingenious, practical and good looking entryway to your layout. I am quite impressed with this creation of yours. What I cannot figure out is how you get everything in perfect alignment when the gate is closed.
Thanks for the nice comments!
Don, I wish I would have waited for a nicer bridge. Oh well.... It doesn't look too bad if you squint.
The piers are just made from 2" foam board. Pretty easy to make. Foam, hot glue and paint. There are horizontal form lines in the foam.
The pour is from 1929 that is why it looks so bad
No info on the gate at this time. Shhhh
Dave
This job is all in the details and you made them look wonderful, Dave.
Dave,
Is that a gate for entry into the layout? If so, can you post a picture of the hinge section and where the other end of the gate meets the mainline? I just posted about this this morning and I am looking for ideas on how to make a hinged gate.
Thanks
Dennis
It has to be said: You have no peer when it comes to piers.
Ingenious, or just plain genius. Beautiful job!
Jay
Looks good!
unrelated to your bridge-
Thanks for running the trains, it made both of my kiddos day! (Even if only one would let me snap his picture)
Glad to pick up the Bordens car from ya, it will be right at home with the rest of my dairy obsession...
My pleasure!

Great photo, Roger!!
Hey I recognize that famous layout!! Dave, I was going to make the trip up with our friend Don, but he ended up going up himself. If he hasn't told you, Issac loves the MTH set!! I need to make a trip to Mercer myself.
Dave,
I will organize your shop if you show me how to make a bridge pier like that. The concrete color and the cracks and deterioration is great.

David, I don't live near you but if I did would offer to help Alan work in your shop to get the know-how for your bridge piers! I need piers for 3 bridges. Great work.
Dave,
Great treatment for the bridge. Any images of the door?
