This is for all you folks who like to model maintenance of way. In June 2011 we were returning from the Chicago area back to central Illinois and decided to follow old Route 66 so we could follow the tracks that run parallel.

This is from several spots between Dwight and Odell. They replaced all of the wodded ties with concrete, and apparently replaced all the rail as well.

The completed line should run from Dwight down to East St. Louis as a high speed rail line

I read in a local new article that the equipment they are currently using can lay as much rail in two hours as used to take about 5-8 hours back in the '80s.

Enjoy!
