We (the modular group) got this switch in a box of donations. Unboxed and with some O scale for roadbed, Gargraves flex track and scenery materials. I have never seen one. Can any identify it. The base is thin plastic.

Back in the early PostWar period (early 50s), alternative manufacturers of 3 rail switches popped up. I got out my copies of Toy Trains Magazine to see if I could identify it.....but I could not.
Here is the results of my research:
The 1st picture is a switch machine that looks similar from the Pioneer Co of Chicago.
The next pictures are ads from the 3 switch makers I found:
Bob Peare of New Jersey
Eric Fuchs of Boston
House of Trains, Hirth Hobbies, of Chicago
Great prices anyway....

It is a Gargraves Phantom Line Switch. The one i have has Tenshodo's Switch Machines. In a hurry will post pictures tonight.
Bill beat me to it. I just sold a bunch of those.
The Hirth turnout is really nice, 100mph like the Ad states. even has the electric switch machine built into the underside
I have a bunch too boxed with controllers.
The flat design of the switch motor is cool but I don't use them.
Thank you, gents! I love a mystery like this.....when were switches like this made?
Peter
Switch motors appear to be Tenshodo Twin coil.
