Paigetrain... that CSX set you show was released.... kinda sorta. Aside from the loco (I believe) all of the rolling stock was produced. Lionel ended up selling it off in pairs. Some of the pairs were still available from dealers such as Gryzboski & Ro as of not too long ago. As for them ever revisiting something they cancelled... I don't think it has ever been done. Once they test the waters based on pre-orders & don't get the response they want, that is pretty much all she wrote for that set or item.
Lionel probably follows this forum very closely to find out what to make and what will sell. So there's a good chance that your musings will be considered along with the other requests listed on this forum.

Forum members closely follow Lionel. It's not the other way around. There is no way Lionel will ever produce that nice little Pullmor powered CSX 44 toner. Too busy making the products we want, like little pink and purple can motored pet shop Lionchief diesels.
Bachmann and MTH could make their own versions of those train sets.
They have the right locomotives and cars to make them.
Andrew
That version of the CSX is too much of a jumble of concepts.
What you actually need for Lionel to make is a complete CSX Maintenance of Way train set in O Scale.
Andrew
I'd jump on the Talgo and NH....
Bachmann is bringing back the K-Line FP59I, so they could make that and the matching passenger cars.
