Folks,

It's that time of year! Back to trains. Setting up the Christmas layout and am switching to DCS. I have one loop that will run conventional and 2 loops that 3 trains will share. I expect I will have to work through some connections (Realtrax on a carpet, mor connections will be needed).

BUT FIRST - MTH passenger cars from the late 2000s, MTH Aquarium car late 2000s. Assorted Lionel lighted cars (Gingerbread, Santa on a sleigh). Except for the santa car, that might be difficult to fix, I'm not concerned about shortening bulb life. I am concerned about melting things, or burning things out and  signal interference.

Any warnings? Any encouragement, that it is OK?

On the passenger cars,I would insert a diode in series from the pickup rollers, this will dim the bulbs by about half. Dropping voltage with didoes is explained here.

You can also convert to LED lighting. Not sure if late MTH cars already have this.

Not sure of the aquarium car circuit.

Signal interference is not an issue unless you add or there is a capacitor in the circuit as with some cars with constant voltage lighting.
