I am very excited to announce that the forum has CHARLES RO as another new sponsor!!!  We welcome Charles Sr., Chucky, and the rest of their crew!  They will also have large ads in the magazine with their usual great deals on what we all love...TRAINS!  To share just a little with all of you....  It has been well over a decade since they have been in our magazine and a goal of mine to bring them back.  I have to thank Marty Fitzhenry who is my great friend for arranging my meeting with Chucky at York.  Marty has been a great supporter of OGR and this forum and I want to thank him for helping to open the door to what I feel will be a good relationship for all those involved.   Take a look at their large banner in the second row above.  Click on it and you will be taken to the Charles Ro website where you will be able to see all that they have to offer.  OGR is proud to have Charles Ro and their team aboard our "train"!!  They have been gone a long time from OGR...too long...so PLEASE give them a hardy welcome to our forum and magazine....!

Thanks,

Alan

I've been buying train stuff from Charles Sr. (O gauge) and Jr. (USA Trains Large Scale locomotives and rolling stock) for many years, dating way back to when I lived in Hawaii.  My most recent order--two USA Trains beer reefers--arrived just last week and were quickly shipped off to my brother-in-law who has an ever-expanding collection of those colorful and very distinctive cars.

It's indeed great to have Charles Ro Supply Company in the "family," and I thank them for their support.

Thanks, too, to Marty for his support and encouragement.  He's a credit to this hobby in every respect.

I've said this before... and it bears repeating.  People buy from people they LIKE.  And the absence of Charles Ro in OGR was as noticeable as it gets.  Congratulations to Marty for opening the door, and a big tip of the hat goes out to Alan for crediting Marty with being such an influential person to make this happen.  Great job to both gentlemen.

There are a lot of lessons to be learned here... having such a major player in the toy train dealer world come back as an advertiser and now a sponsor to the forum.  Understand why they ventured away in the first place... and try to avoid letting it happen again!  Good relationships are key to all kinds of business success.

You should never have had to worry about that in the first place.  Charles Ro is as reliable a dealer as there is out there, and I've purchased from Charlie since the 1970's.  I've never hesitated giving him a well-deserved atta-boy around here.

Welcome Charles Ro to the OGR community for your forum sponsorship and print advertising. You do a great service to the train community through your great customer service. Charles Sr. and Chucky and everybody that works for them thank you for your hard work and I can't forget my friends Marty and Dottie for helping with the great partnership that has been created out of this event. It is very much appreciated by the staff at OGR!

Great job Alan! I know that this is a wonderful addition to both the Forum and magazine. Whenever I go to the Boston area, I try to stop by Charles Ro, and I've bought from them for quite a while. They are great to deal with.

It is really great to know people like Marty who go out of their way to be so very, very helpful. This is undoubtedly a big win/win.

I guess there are now quite a few sponsors who have purchased the larger banner ads displayed on a rotating basis, 'cause it took me SEVEN page refreshes done at random 4- to 5-second intervals before I saw the Charles Ro banner.  So it's somewhat of a hit-and-miss ordeal.  And then, of course, it depends if you're looking up there in the first place when a specific banner happens to be displayed.

Hopefully though, the sponsors will see a much-deserved increase in website traffic by being a sponsor here.  Website statistics will show that trend pretty easily.

I've never dealt with Ro, but maybe I will now.

My go-to O train supplier only advertises in the magazine. Wouldn't be surprised if I saw their banner here on the forum some day soon.

Me, too. I still enjoy a newspaper and magazine in my hands. My wife keeps trying to push a tablet or Kindle or some sort evil device on me.

Alan, you did the work.  Great job.  I have been around the OGR People for a few years and with Alan on board it just keeps the continuity of all the owners and staff being train people and not just people who run a magazine.  OGR even has Rich who operates real trains.  Wow, talk about creditability in the train world.  Alan, your layout is on top of my list on my next southern road trip.

I came from G scale and never thought about Ro for O gauge.

Someone suggested I check with them when some Lionel cars were getting hard to find. It seems they have a lot to offer.

I am pleased with how well they have kept my back orders straight and their service. There are many choices thankfully, for stores to get stuff from. I like the ones like Ro, that treat you like a customer, instead of "We're busy" and you're bothering them.

WOW Alan,

I have got get a bigger monitor so I can fit all the sponsors you are picking up on my screen.

I have dropped a dime or two with Charles Ro over the years, along with many other dealers on the banner.

Maybe I need to bring you on board with the corporation I work for. You really seem to have “the gift” that all the successful sales reps I have known possess.

Happy Holidays to you,

Richard Gonzales

Wow... talk about a timely announcement... I feel like a 'lackey' for Charles Ro as I had just submitted this post (excerpt) about my MTH Z4000 transformer going bad on me with only about 75 hrs on it and I happened to mention Ro in my post about my MTH Z4000...   post read in part...

"Again... Really bummed. Spent a lot of $$$ on this MTH Z4000 transformer... and now not working just out of warrantee coverage.   Note... not to bad mouth MTH.. but... I recently picked up the hobby (about 3 years ago) and have bought about 7 MTH locos and related roling stock for my 'office relaxation' (better for my health than tranqilizer pills to remove work stress ).  Anyway... two of the MTH locos stopped working, again.. my luck... just a couple months out of warrantee. MTH service was zero, and I mean zero help.. other than to say 'send it back and we will look at it and bill you for it'. I mean just out of warrantee... Talk about killing any brand loyalty. I was furious. I am glad bought 1/2 my gear from Charles Ro Supply (just outside of Boston). They struck me initially as a 'salty lot' to deal with for sure (some of their staff), but they came to bat for me... when MTH would not honor the issue... (one unit was just 16 days outside of the 1 year warrantee period). Ro fixed both my MTH engines for me in-house for no charge (and one of the units I had not bought at Ro.. I was up front with them on that and they still helped me out). And that my friends is reason 1288 to support your local hobby store. Unfort, I bought the Z4000 on-line and they (will not name names) are telling me I am on my own... take it up with MTH on the transformer.".

Anyway... unsolicted.. but that is my 'Ro' story. As for MTH... they could learn an awful lot from Ro about building relationships that continue for years (I am still pretty young.. and will spend $$$ for many years to come on this hobby... and will rethink any MTH puchase in this hobby).

Cheers !

Jim
