You should check out Lionel Headquarters while you are there. They are just next door to Concord. They have a company store on site, and while the prices are not anything to write home about, it's still a trip to Lionel.

There are no train hobby shops there. I think there is a hobby town. If you want to go over to Spencer NC there is the LIttle Choo- Choo shop across from the Spencer shops museum where the NS 611 is under restoration. It is a nice hobby shop worth visiting.
