Hello all,  I recently saw an old video that had a rail car with Santa where he would stand up and then sit down as train moved.  Anyone have an idea if that was a production item from Lionel or ??   Looking for an add for next years Christmas Villages.   Best of Holidays to everyone

I’m having trouble picturing an articulated Santa. I’ve seen cars where Santa pops his head through the roof, I’ve seen him lean off cabooses and pop out of doors. I’ve seen cars where he interacts with a snowman above the track. I’ve never seen him bend at the knee. Was he bending at the knee and. Waste, or popping his head up out of the boxcar?

For the bobbing Santa boxcar (where Santa's head and shoulders simply go up and down), that's Lionel 36743, made in 2003 (though I think they've since made another one like it). At full extension, Santa is roughly 1.25" above the top of the car. Full height (again at full extension) from the base of the wheel set to the top of Santa is a nudge over 4.5". Might have one for sale so, if that's the one you're looking for, drop me a line!~)

Hi All Thanks Much.  Like the 2008 look and have  checked clearance on tunnels and I only have one that is close.   I looked at measurements and I have ~ 1 5/8 + above going thru the one tunnel.    I think it will work.   I have a link to see our 2019 Village and the "grey" tunnel is my concern.  RRBill - What one do you have for sale??

Hi Bob!

First off, that Christmas village is incredible! Don't think I'm gonna grumble about setting up my little village under the tree with 6-8 buildings ever again!~)

The bobbing Santa car I have is the 2003 model that I used in the ruler photo (pulled that one off my layout). Better photos of it on the Lionel website here. If you're interested, drop me a line (email in profile). I need to dig some stuff out to make sure I have an extra to sell. I can also send you a link to video of it under my tree if you want to see it in action.
