Just a suggestion... I have a "Want" list that I keep up to date and give to my wife. It has the manufacturer, part number and item name. I also include other helpful info as to price range and where she might find it. Once I hand her the updated list at Thanksgiving, I am not allowed to buy anything on it until after Christmas. If there are enough items on the list there is still enough mystery as to what I'm actually getting. Well, except for that bag of coal in my stocking and the Christmas car. Smile

In light of all the bashing, I thought I would give them a try.

I went on line and ordered a small item, just to see what would happen.

The transaction was painless. The Order Confirmation (same as a receipt) was in my mail within a few minutes. Smile

I'm planning on calling my insurance agent and asking if printed e-mail messages are as good as a receipt when it comes to claims. You can type *anything* into a word processor and print it so I would be really surprised if they told me it was good.

And why not be good? I have ordered from hobbystation and received a confirmation of the order. Followed in a seperste e-mail the receipt in word format.

As long as you purchase from an authorized dealer (which you can verify on the Lionel web) then any warranty problems are honored. Besides when I purchased from a different authorized brick and mortar dealer. Guess how the receipt I received was printed. On HIS printer from his computer, and it is legit.

Hi guys,
I finally got a receipt mailed to me. It was only because I took some advice from someone here and called Lionel. They gave my information to the area sales rep. and within an hour I received an email from Hobby Station, telling me they have been out of town, and will mail my receipt that day.
Two days later I received it in the mail. It is typed on their letterhead so I'm assuming it will be accepted for any warranty work.
Again, I appreciate comments from everyone, and hope that Lionel has recognized a problem and will advise them to change their policy concerning receipts. As far my husband not liking the train, lesson learned, he needs to buy his own trains in the future.
Thanks to everyone who contributed and I hope it will help someone else in the future.

Always keep a folder of engine receipts .Never send back the original with the engine for repair. There have been several times I've had to send an engine back more than once.

I was searching  for information on Hobby Station. I ordered a Lionel Engine a week ago 8/14 its 8/21 today. The money seen charged on my card.

Got the confirmation letter and nothing else from them, no shipping information, I e mailed 3 time, called twice all with no reply back. Fax machine number on site not working.

Basic customer service

Order  confirmation

Shipping  confirmation

So what the issue with this business? They seem to take the order fast but slow with everything else. feeling like I been taken.

" I would order again,"

And that folks, is why a business with crappy service and policies, stays in business and keeps raking in the money. People just do not seem to learn.

If you had found this thread, you probably would not have ordered. You found it, and after crappy service and extra work, would still "order again?"

I rest my case.

Well here's my experience with Hobbystation.net....After buying a $750 engine in August, 2013, that stopped working after 4 months, I tried to get them (Hobby Station) to send me a receipt of purchase so I could get warranty service from Lionel.  I emailed them 3 times and got NOTHING, NADA, ZIP....Would it have been sooooooo difficult to extend me the courtesy of at least a reply?  I would not do business with them again.  Originally Posted by CSXJOE:

Seems self-explanatory.
