I' am wondering how to mount circuit board to spacers . I super glued spacers to motor and using cable ties to hold board in place, works ok now but would like something more secure. Nervous about super gluing board to mounting shims. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I used hot glue and clear epoxy. I liked the hot glue better.
My wife uses hot glue on everything, and to my amazement, that stuff is great
If I understand your question: when I upgrade locos to ERR Cruise Commander and the like, as often as not I just use 2-sided tape (provided in the kits, or buy your own). I have found it to be reliable.
If I have a board attached with the tape (at the heat sink) but the "long end" of the board is dangling without support, I'll cut a piece of scrap balsa and Walthers Goo it to the tender frame (for example) to give the long end a resting place. I don't attach the balsa to the board itself - I just make sure that the balsa is thick enough to snug up against it.
FWIW, I use CA adhesive for all my mounting of the Chuff-Generators.
I specifically do not like double-sided tape as it is too easy to knock the sensor out of adjustment. I also like it to be mounted as close to the motor as possible, so I mount my curved shim and the C-G for large motor installations where the flywheel is smaller than the motor diameter.
I have never needed any additional measures to secure the C-G to the motor after doing the CA adhesive, believe me, it won't come off!
YMMV, but that's how the designer does it.
I experimented with 2 sided tape..... did not like it at all. Too much give to it, and easy to pop the board off.
I'll second the motion for CA glue. It worked very well for me!
I didnt use CA glue because as a newbie with electronics upgrades, I was afraid I would blow one up.... and I did. So the hot glue holds very well, but also allowed me to remove it once I verified it was dead
A little secret with the CA, you can simply twist the board and it'll come free. It actually takes the solder mask off the board, but since you're not likely to be using it again, that's not a problem. It doesn't actually damage anything about the operation if you did want to put it on again.
Ahhh OK, good to know John. When I CA glue something... it don't ever come apart ever! After I blew up the board, I guess it didnt matter if it came off in pieces. Now that I know how to do them, I'm not scared of the CA.
I have used Gorilla glue for similar things; works quite well and no movement later.

I'm sure Gorilla glue will work fine, you just need something that keeps it from moving and can withstand getting bumped when putting the boiler shell back on.
