Last week I visited CUT shortly after the multi-million dollar restoration and refurbishment of this classic Art Deco masterpiece. All is not completed as yet, but the "Holiday Train Display" which includes the classic B&O train display that began its Cincinnati appearance in the late 1940s has been refreshed and upgraded while still keeping the basic overall track plan. Before the B&O display had evolved into a fantasy/snowy, winter wonderland with some whimsical effects. With the "remodel", it returns to a more prototypical, but free-lanced appearance. I fully appreciate the work, detail and nuance that this refurbished layout presents. If you live in Cincinnati or plan on visiting, contact the Cincinnati Museum Center for hours and prices. Count on spending some serious time on this display.

Beautiful display. I find it interesting that they are still using the outside third rail. I would have expected that they would change to a modern control system during the rebuilding process.
Thanks for sharing your photos. I hope to visit someday.

Nice layout and good to see an architectural gem being restored and preserved. Once served by 6 different railroads and having over 30 arrivals and departures daily; today only the Amtrak Cardinal stops here on its way to Chicago. It is a shame that so many great historic RR stations, having historic architecture have been demolished. Most of them could never be rebuilt or replaced today.
Very nice!
Thank you for sharing.

A wonderful statement about our wonderful hobby and about the place of real trains in history.
Thank you for sharing all those photos with us here.

Thanks for sharing. Do they still allow visitors to view the switch yard. If I remember correctly you had to go up to the second level to view the real deal trains. Its been a while since I have been there.
I remember seeing this beautiful building as I was traveling down I-75 when I was a kid going to the Reds ball game. My sister still lives north of Cinncy. She has commented on the layout more than once. I guess I'll have to go see it the next time I'm in Ohio.
Thank you very much for posting the lovely photos of the layout ..... glad they preserved the outside 3rd rail .....
Any text about the layout on display mentioning the trains ?...are they the original Ken Henry pieces ? ...Looks as if they have a number of trains on the walls .... old vintage original to the layout items or ?
Thank you
Here are a few photos of the layout over the years .

Bill, Tower "A" is in the process of being restored. This was the CUT control center when the terminal was an active, working railroad complex. The sign predicts completion in the spring of 2019. The attached photos illustrate some of the fantastic views and railroad action that is another element of interest to modelers and railroad fans alike that was, and will be available upon completion of the restoration work.
