im planning on using some of the o scale office building and skyscraper flats that you find online. however, I notice the ground floors of these really don't represent reality much. can you guys suggest a source for some midtown manhatten style ground floor store front images? im talking about some of the typical chain corporate stuff.. duane reade next to the dunkin donuts etc etc.  I did a search of some image sights , but couldn't land on what I was seeking.

Perhaps Google Street View?

Look up some of the chain stores using the store locator, and employ 'street view' at those locations. The images might be good enough for typical viewing distances if prints of these images are laid over some form of 3D relief approximating the depth of window/door frames, entrances and other large details.

At least that's how I envisioned it working, the only difference being that living in NYC, I can take many of my own photos for that purpose.

I found much more than I needed, and more, by googling "building fronts" and "orthogonal pictures of buildings" or stores, etc.  I played with the search words a lot.

It simply takes some time - I spent several hours on a couple of different days, using different search phrases and following links to see where they went.  It was fun, in and off itself, is a strange way - at least once.  And I gradaully found what I wanted.
