Looking into 2 rail O

Just returned from the show.

A bonus for O 2 railers are the affordable rolling stock. Used in the $20-25 range, new atlas  for $30-35.

Unfortunetly, I did not see much of anything for us in the post 1980 era, motive or rolling stock.

Lots of nice Steam and early era rolling stock.

I also attended the show;  my impressions:

  -  Attendance got off to a slow start:  usually by the nine am opening there's quite a waiting line, but this time it was only six or so of us.  The show didn't really get busy till an hour or so later, yet weather at least locally wasn't a problem.

  - I agree with Bluegill that most of the items for sale were, more or less, transition era [ and there were some great buys, especially for passenger cars ].  But I think that's for two reasons:

      - that was 'the modern era' when some of the collections being disposed of were started !

      - it reflects the era most modeled by 0 scalers -- although it could be argued this is the case regardless of scale or even nationality.

But there did seem to be at least some post -80 stuff:  Dash-x diesels, stack cars, Amfleet/Horizon, and those $10 Weaver cars with t/c.  Just not a lot, agreed.

- It was especially nice to meet the personable Mr McConnell of OScale Turnouts, Inc, and view his product range.

- It seemed like people were buying less than in previous years -- but we left before eleven [ due to airline scheduling ];  someone there later may have a different view.

So I thought it was a great show, and had a good time.

Disclaimer:  I would probably have said that every year.

Best, SZ

Representing Sunset Models/Golden Gate Depot I also share PRR Jim's sentiments.  Had 4 tables directly across from him. The fellow who went with me said on the trip out from MD that he thought the uncertainty of the election may affect attendance and/or sales.

Before the show began one of the first people I spoke to said "I have money to spend but won't do so until I see the election results". Others later offered the same sentiment.

Not attempting to enter a political discussion here - just offering facts.

O scale shows and the hope of finding some structures/kits other than Plasticville are

reluctantly missed, but there was a large two day general show in SW Ohio on the

same stinking weekend...so...(that show was mobbed, dealers and shoppers, biggest I think I have seen it, and that may have impacted this one but... I found nothing of interest)

And, who currently promotes this O scale show?...I think it fairly recently changed promoters.

That photo posted above was taken at a show previous to this year's -- 2011, perhaps.  From memory, I THINK the table illustrated belonged to George Peckman.  An 'oogle or equivalent search for ' George Peckman 0 gauge ' will list some of the other shows he does / has done.  I don't think his table had as many shells this year.

And as I recall, most if not all of those shells in the previous year(s) were MTH;  thus none of the cars were over 18".

Best rgds, SZ
