Greetings and salutations to all:

I am having a problem with installing a collector with insulator. This collector is for a Santa Fe 2353 F3.   I have ordered the supposed screws that it calls for.  4-40 3/8.   I put the insulator on and then screw the collector in place, when I put it on my test track it shorts out.  I have tried and tried to figure out why is it continually shorting out.  My test leads come right off the transformer and hook to center rail and one outside rail.  As soon as I put it on the track, the green light on my transformer starts blinking.  It is suppose to stay on continually.  Where am I going wrong.  Are there special screws that go here?  I bought screws from other railroaders but don't really know if they are right.  What is the answer to this.

Yes, I was thinking all along it was the wrong screws but it turns out that the shoe rivet was touching and shorting out.  I am working on another F3 that I built and something is shorting out on this as well but its not the shoe this time.  Turns out I have a bad E unit.  Probably the fingers inside unit are not touching the barrel correctly.  Someone rebuilt this and put wrong colored wires in it.  I am going to rebuild it with everything the way it should be.  I hope I have better luck with it.
