Comment/Question for Menards

Here is one picture to show what I mean.

The logo on the flat car is correct, but the side of the truck is not.  Everything is done beautifully, but the logo is hard to ignore.  Can this be corrected?

Mark Menards:  Art is absolutely correct on this objection.  Having the Milw logo at the wrong angle, just grinds on my sense of correctness.  I thought I would use the engine shed, but when I finally saw one and realized that it couldn't easily be repaired, I backed off.

While the truck is too new for my layout, anyway, it just shows that someone did not do their homework.  The word "Milwaukee" must be level and parallel to the ground to be correct.

Purpose of this discussion is not to nit-pic, but to offer constructive criticism for future projects.  You guys are from Wisconsin, certainly Milwaukee Road territory, so you really do want not to offend Milwaukee Road guys, but rather appeal to them.

Let me start out by saying thank you for your constructive criticism. It took me a couple days to think about what I wanted to say in reply.

As you pointed out, the Milwaukee Road logo should be shown at an angle so that it reads correctly. I realize that this product may not sit well with some Milwaukee Road collectors. However, as you alluded to, this is beautifully decorated maintenance truck. That being said, I am not embarrassed of it nor am I considering it a “mistake.”

Going forward, we will make sure to use the tilted Milwaukee Road logo. For the time being, we will have to let these maintenance trucks run their course. These have been produced and they will be around as long as stock is available.

Mark, it's always great to see your active participation on the forum, especially when, as here, it is to address a perceived problem with a Menards product.

Mark - Thank you for your response.  I understand your position and very much look forward to seeing Milwaukee Road products in the future with the correct Milwaukee Road logo.  As I said before, I very much appreciate the great new products your company is providing us and at such competitive prices.  I wish you the best.

This has been going on a long time. When Post cereals made these 3" metal signs to go in my cereal in the 1950's they got it wrong then.  Azgary

AZGARY:  NO, Post got it right!  But you had to mount the logo with the word; "Milwaukee" parallel to the horizon.  The old logol Chicago Milwaukee St.Paul and Pacifid, which had some different angles to it, also was placed with the wrod "Milwaukee" parallel to the ground.  It's the way they did it!
