the reason I am posting here instead of the for sale or trade column is that I am undecided//

originally I ws going to, back in 1988 going to build a three rail / two rail setup with gargraves track.. at that time NO ONE was doing cale in three rail /two rail, ( like atlas and MTH these days).

the issue for me now is that I recently joined NJHighrailers, and now have little to no need to build a layout. I already know tha answer from the three railers.. :-) so I put to you scale guys, what should I do?

sell trade the vintage stuff, Rivarrosi, Atlas, AHM, and newer (1989 Weaver SW 1500) or save it for a rainy day possible future layout?

the older two rail stuff has the old horn hook couplers, less detail than out of the box stuff today and so many failings when compared to modern offerings, but it does have its own sense of history and "class"

dd to this that my real passion is scenery and scale details / structures and you see my conundrum.

less track and a layout I have the beginnings of a rather nice train set.. even for  prototypical operations all in two rail o scale, the cost to convert this rolling stock to three rail is prohibitve and I have stuff that has some historical interest..

tough decision isn't it

the stuff listed and shown in the photos is not collector stuff by any means.   My opinion is you will not able to sell if for much.    it will sell at a flea market at flea market prices for kitbashing material in most cases.   The AHM cars are pretty dated detail wise.   The Cliners are nice shells, but lightly powered.    The RS units are probably the most valuable, best of the bunch.

However, if you never plan to use it, sell it off for whatever you can get.   Take it to a show with the attitude that you don't want to take it home, again.

Otherwise build and enjoy.

an update: I have decided to convert the frieght ca4rs to three rail with standard couplers. one of the weaver rs units will become NYSW in tradtioanl silver and maroon livery.

the three A units will be either up for sale or similarly converted.

being and old hot rodder and custom painter, I think the best is to look at these as near scale, raw materials..

If there is any interest in any of this stuff let me know I don't have any issue with passing it along..  also willing to trade for any three rail metal trucks
