Does anyone use electrical contact cleaner to clean their track, metal wheels, or pick-up rollers? I see that some brands have "non-residue" type. My track is the Lionel tubular.
Electrical contact cleaner is somewhat expensive and best used for cleaning smaller things like relay contacts and electrical switches and mechanical E-units, where access is otherwise difficult. Prolonged vapors and skin contact are potentially hazardous to your health.
I rarely use volatile contact cleaners. Some of the older ones will attack plastic, and are rather bad for the environment. The products from Caig labs are not very volatile, but they are rather expensive.
I use this on my Premier axles at the bushings...stays clean and has lubricating and electrical conducting properties.I pretty much ignore my dirty track but DCS still signals through just fine with my several MU's
