To all who have posted on this subject, I want to thank you.
But honestly I am still totally confused. I am planning on running both, Lionel TMCC and MTH DCS.
I probably will not purchase any Lionel Legacy Locomotives. Is there a publication or even a video that
I can read or view to clarify this subject. I really learn much better when I see it laid out.

Plenty of pictures and diagrams on running DCS and TMCC together.
Also, try the DCS Companion 3rd Edition by Barry Broskowitz - it's very helpful.

You can do what I did: hook a TMCC command base to the TIU (using the MTH TIU to TMCC/Legacy cable). This allows the user to run PS2/PS3/TMCC/Legacy/conventional locomotives from the same remote.

The DCS TIU has two variable outputs that are controllable from the DCS remote. These can control two electrically isolated loops that are conventional on a layout.
