There was a thread not too long ago where somebody detailed how to swap the one Lionel resistor/heating element in the smoke unit to the MTH version which had 2. I can't find that thread now. Can anyone here point me in the right direction?
My 2 Lionel Legacy Diesels smoke output is anemic. I want to upgrade to the MTH as they look/perform so much better. Any help greatly appreciated.
Not gonna' happen, apples and oranges. Like Chuck says, tune up what you have.
If my memory serves me right, somebody said you can just replace the board with the heater element with MTH's which has 2 elements opposed to 1. That looks like it may be the only solution.
Whoever that "someone" was, they were wrong! You'll end up with no smoke, which I suspect is NOT the object of the exercise. You should be able to get plenty of smoke, especially for a diesel, out of the stock Lionel smoke units.
