There was a thread not too long ago where somebody detailed how to swap the one Lionel resistor/heating element in the smoke unit to the MTH version which had 2.  I can't find that thread now.  Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

My 2 Lionel Legacy Diesels smoke output is anemic. I want to upgrade to the MTH as they look/perform so much better.  Any help greatly appreciated.

CJack, thanks for the heads-up.  I was able to find that video on youtube, you were right, for some reason, it wasn't working on Lionel's site.  Here's the youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkDlQ5Cwwlk.

Unfortunately for me, that trick only works on the older TMCC 1 engines from the 90's.  My 2 Legacy Diesels are are both less than 3 years old.  I know there's a forum thread on here somewhere, I will find it if it takes me all day.  If my memory serves me right, somebody said you can just replace the board with the heater element with MTH's which has 2 elements opposed to 1.  That looks like it may be the only solution.

Whoever that "someone" was, they were wrong!  You'll end up with no smoke, which I suspect is NOT the object of the exercise.  You should be able to get plenty of smoke, especially for a diesel, out of the stock Lionel smoke units.
