I have about 8 crosswalks to add to my little town, and am wondering if anyone has done it with decals. I’m assuming that it would have to be done by printing the black on a white background decal. I’m trying to not have to mask them all.

Simply use white decal paper. I assume you want the crosswalks in white. Just cut the size you need and apply. Just be sure to lay a glossy surface before applying.
That said, I would mask and paint. I would think you would get better control of the applied color in order to get some fades or weathered effects.
Something like ebay item 162122228725 - 36" of O-scale crosswalk. First one I found, but it sounded reasonable. Probably others out there as well, if something like this would work?
John,
This might help. https://www.cmrproducts.com/st...ch?keyword=crosswalk
Not sure if you go to York, but there was a vendor in the Orange hall who sells all sorts of Road decals.

Looks fantastic!
Looks great.
John, that looks great. I think you made the right choice here. I don't know what your streets are made of but a decal would have to be placed on a smooth glossy surface, otherwise you might have had some "silvering" and possibly adhesion issues applying a decal.
I know masking can be a pain, but in the end you have better control of how the cross walk "paint" will appear. And any problems encountered when the masking is removed can be fixed with a little touch up painting whereas a decal could possibly tear or distort leading to a ruined decal. Ask me how I know this.
