I came across a pair of tools made by "Crystal R&D" for repairing E-units. One tool is a "U" shaped bar with a thumb screw that spreads the bars apart. This tool was used to separate the e-unit sides for disassembly. The second tool is also a "U" shaped bar, but instead of a thumb screw, it has a curved pocket cut into the end to hold an e-unit drum for reassembly.
I dimly recall seeing a product announcement and/or advertising for these tools somewhere along the line. But I don't remember where or when. Can anybody shed any light on when these tools were made? It was probably after 1970
