I have been working on some Custom MTA decals for the LIRR GP-38s that Nassau Hobby released from MTH.

I have 2 different versions and can't decide what to go with. I looked up some prototype photos for both the red white and blue as well as the white and blue and se that some just have the "M" and some have the "M" With Long Island written beneath.

I'm leaning toward the M alone on blue & white and M with Long Island on red white & blue.

So take a look and let me know what you think. I put some paper mock ups on the white and blue version.

I really like this locomotive a lot. The color and details are beautiful and it operates flawlessly in both conventional and DCS. The freight proto effects dialog is very good to . It actually sounds like a real train crew talking. Only problem is the crew sounds a little southern rather than like Lawn-guylandres.

The correct logo is LONG ISLAND under the M. It was always that way from the beginning of the MTA takeover on all equipment.

Microscale sells HO 87-0759 Long Island/MTA Diesels & Passenger which will also work for O.

Island Model works plans to get them made for the next MTH blue & white MP-15 and other LIRR M diesels.

Nice job, thanks for posting!

I think MTH nailed the GP38-2 sound set as well. My NY&A sounds just like the old LIRR GP's.

I bought the Microscale decals when the red, whiter & blue version came out. They look good, but I thought they looked too small. I did find a couple of photos with gp's that have small "m"s on them, but I think the bigger looks better.

I also have the NY&A, i love it too. one of my favorite locos.

But they have the LIRR logo?  isn that part of the MTA?  The dashing Dan logos?  Sorry, I know this has probably been asked before!

I believe it is because MTH does not has a licensing agreement with the MTA

Andy,

I printed them in sets of 6 and was thinking $5.00 per set. I was thinking to have buyers just mail cash or money order and a self addressed envelope to drop it in.

Anyone who is interested in a set, shoot me an email gcatanese773@yahoo.com

with you selling them won't this violated their copyright? and cause you to have to have a license?

be careful.

I would ask for donations.
